BI4J Joins EPIC for a day of service with Boston Serve

“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.”
― Audre Lorde, Our Dead Behind Us: Poems

BodyImage4Justice is proud to join EPIC and Triangle, Inc. during Boston Serve 2013 at English High School in Jamaica Plain. These young people show the world that disability is simply a difference, not an Otherness. Disability is not inability–we must live differently in our bodies, and we must live our truths.

Through community service, the young leaders of EPIC have shown not only a sense of community responsibility that many others don’t have, but also the courage to speak when others are silent, the strength to be seen when others have ignored, and the ability to share their lives in a culture that often turns its back and closes its eyes to people with disabilities.

We are grateful to share this time with EPIC while doing our part in community service. We look forward to more collaborations to come!
